The Human Factor Rating™
"The numbers tell part of the story. Humans tell the rest."
The Human Factor Rating™ is Octopus Gary's proprietary model for the side of football that pure statistics miss: the psychology and environment around a match. Every team is scored from 0–100, and that score applies a measured nudge to Gary's statistical World Cup predictions.
What Gary measures
- Home advantage — host nations and familiar conditions.
- Crowd support — the lift a backing crowd gives a side.
- Momentum — recent form and the confidence it builds.
- Travel fatigue — the toll of distance and short turnarounds.
- Pressure, rivalry, tournament experience and national energy — the intangibles of knockout football.
How it changes a prediction
Gary converts the rating gap between two teams into a capped swing, damped by how lopsided the base statistics already are. It can decide a true coin-flip but never flips a clear favourite. It is an analytical aid — always shown alongside the statistics, never gambling advice.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Human Factor Rating™?
It is Octopus Gary's proprietary 0–100 rating of the psychological and environmental side of a football match — home advantage, crowd support, momentum, travel fatigue, pressure, rivalry, tournament experience and national energy.
Does the Human Factor Rating replace statistics?
No. It is applied as a capped, damped nudge on top of Gary's statistical power ratings. It can tip a coin-flip match but never overpowers a clear statistical mismatch.
Is the Human Factor Rating gambling advice?
No — it is an analytical prediction aid shown alongside the statistics, for entertainment only.
